Dealing With The Psychological Impact of Acne

Research on acne cures and solutions continues as it has for years but there has not been any really conclusive evidence or solution found that can guarantee that some form of acne to some degree will not form at any time during an individual's lifetime.

Although acne is mostly seen in teens, it is not uncommon to see acne appear in anyone from babies to senior citizens. But particularly in the teen years when young people are doing their best to make the best impression possible (usually on someone of the opposite sex), and the fact that acne is most commonly found on one's face, it has been found that acne can cause a psychological barrier and associated problems related to the acne condition. There is a popular myth which states that young women are much more concerned about their appearance than young men. This is blatantly untrue.

Although there are some in both genders who seem to not really care, the ones who do care are pretty much equally distributed between boys and girls. When acne is visibly present, as opposed to a very mild case of acne, the person becomes concerned about it and can develop problems as a result of that worry, where some people become almost obsessed with it. Many teens become socially withdraw, being very self-conscious of their acne problem and firmly believing that anyone they meet notices their acne problem before they even get to know their name. The general behavior of teens who struggle with an acne problem are different, and sometimes vastly differently, many of the characteristics displayed are the same or very similar.

These would include:

A lack of self confidence. Being pre-occupied and self-conscious about their appearance. Over dressing or even going to the opposite extreme, where it would seem that they do not care how they look. Pushing away from their friends and family. Isolation. Suppressed anger. Low self-esteem or low self-image of themselves. Depression.

Any or all of these symptoms and characteristics can be exhibited with one that suffers from acne, and the number and severity of the characteristic tends to become more acute relative to the severity of the acne problem. It is interesting to note that young men tend to display these characteristics much more so than young women, simply because young women can cover up much of their acne problem with makeup, although in severe cases this does not work well for the young woman either. You need to be aware that acne is not just a temporary skin problem, but it is a real skin disease that should be treated. There are various kinds of creams and lotions available over the counter at drugstores, but it may take some trial and error to find the one that works best for you. Everyone is different, and a lotion or cream that works well for one person may have no effect on someone else. Acne can also leave scars, which is something that will be with you the rest of your life. Find out the truth about acne and take steps to control it by understanding it, understanding what causes it, and what will work best for you to control acne.

Advice For Dealing With Your Problem Skin (Arijit Roul)

Acne is a medical condition that affects not only a person's health, but also their self-esteem. You don't have to feel powerless against it, however. There are some easy things to do so that you have clear skin. Try a few of these ideas to help yourself get clearer skin.

Change your bed sheets often. It can help prevent worsening acne issues. These oils transfer onto your pillow cases and sheets as you sleep. When you sleep on these linens again, they will travel back to your skin. Wash linens often to stop this transfer loop.

Do you feel hopeless with your acne situation? Sometimes allergens like mites or hay fever can cause skin problems. Finally, reduce the amount of stress in your life. Stress can create irritation in your skin by causing certain hormones to be released.

Popping your pimples will only make the problem worse. Picking at them will cause bacteria to spread, which can lead to even more blemishes. It can also cause nasty scabs and scars that are harder to cover up than the zit is itself.

Try using tea tree oil on acne prone spots for clearer skin. Tea tree oil, a naturally derived substance from Australian narrow-leaved tea trees, can decrease oil buildup in your pores without drying out your skin, a common side effect of many alternative acne treatments.

Don't pick at old scarring. All this is going to do is cause more scarring, irritation and redden your skin, and in some situations, maybe even cause an infection. Instead, consult with your dermatologist about how to safely get rid of scars caused by acne.

Your acne regimen can benefit from the inclusion of garlic, a great natural antioxidant. When you consume garlic, it helps to remove toxins from your body and will help your new skin develop. Add garlic to your diet in any way that you find sensible; some ideas include adding it to foods or drinks.

Who would have thought you could get acne from a cell phone? Cell phones hold onto the oils that are on your face and your hair and then put them back on your face. Clean your phone regularly with an alcohol pad to keep it clean and free of oil. When you are using your cell phone do not let it touch your face. This helps prevent any dirt or oil on the phone from touching your face.

One way you can help your acne is to try not wearing any makeup for a small amount of time, or change to makeup that is water based. Makeup can clog pores and make acne worse. Resist the temptation to use cosmetics as an acne cover-up. Staying away from makeup all together is the best way to keep your pores clean and healthy.

A lot of times, those people with pimples will try to squeeze them or pop them. If you absolutely have to, make sure your hands and fingernails are freshly washed to avoid contaminating your pore with bacteria. This will only lead to more breakouts. If you pop your pimples in a proper way you should notice a substantial decrease in the size of the pimple within a short time.

A herbal remedy for acne are the herbs that make chamomile tea. Simply take a cooled tea bag and place it on the problem area to reduce redness and swelling within a few hours of use.
