Review: The Face Shop Real Nature Mask (Mung Bean)

The Face Shop Real Nature Mask (Mung Bean) (20g)
Description: The air pockets within the sheet contain handful of nutritional essence, providing natural moisture and nourishment to skin.

*Mung Bean: A clarifying mask sheet containing mung bean extract, effective in purifying pores for a clean and smooth skin texture.

Directions: Wash face and apply toner. Pull out the mask and carefully place it on the face. Remove after 10~12 minutes and tap lightly to absorb the remaining essence into the skin.

Mask sheet well soaked with essence~

This is the amount of excess essence being poured out from the pack.
The Face Shop is really generous with the essence. :)

This is how the mask looks like...
*thanks dad for helping me to hold the mask :P*

The essence gets absorbed within 10 minutes and it does leaves a slight stickiness on the skin.

Consistency & Color:
Watery, serum-like and colorless.

Scent:
I don't know how to describe the scent of this mask. It doesn't smells like Mung Bean at all. To me, it has a scent like a wet tissue, not too strong or overpowering. It's quite pleasant but it's not refreshing though...

Moisture Test on the back of my hand:
Before applying the essence, my skin moisture level measures 36.6%.
After applying the essence, my skin moisture level measure 54.7%.
After 10 minutes later(essence got absorbed), I took the measurement again, it dropped to 54.0%.

Moisture gained is 18.1%.

The difference on moisture loss after 10 minutes is only 0.7%.
which I concluded that this mask is quite moisturizing.

**Above result is just for the application of a mask, without prior application of a toner.**
With application of a toner and a moisturizer, I believe the skin will be perfectly hydrated!

Likes:
- moisturizes
- gentle on skin; suits sensitive skin
- leave the skin feeling soft, smooth and radiant
- soothing and calming effect
- does not cause breakout or irritation
- mask well soaked with essence
- contains a handful of excess essence

Dislikes:
- leaves skin feeling sticky to the touch -.-

Neutral:
- purifies pores
- oil-control

Verdict: I couldn't tell if this mask helps to purify pores. Good thing is that I didn't get breakout after using. It does moisturizes my skin and my skin will look radiant, soft and smooth(and sticky -.-) to the touch. On the other hand, I don't know if this mask helps with oil control. Sorry, I didn't really take notice...... However, my brother who also tried this mask the other day, noticed a difference in oiliness before and after using the mask. He actually whatsapped me during his working hours asking about whether this mask helps with oil control because his face isn't as oily as what he would normally gets. So perhaps..., this mask does helps with controlling oil.

People who have oily, combination and sensitive skin might want to give this mask a try. :)

Review: Etude House AC Clinic Intense Mask Sheet

Etude House AC Clinic Intense Mask Sheet (20ml)
Description: Formulated with Salicylic acid, mask sheet made from 100% Bamboo fibers supplies moisture.
Directions: Apply mask sheet to cleansed face and leave on for 15-20minutes. Remove mask and massage remaining solution into skin with hands.

I use this mask during "that time of the month". Y'know, girls get breakouts during that period of time. lol...

Mask sheet soaking wet "sitting" inside the pack~~

Apparently, one hand isn't enough to hold and stretch the mask perfectly so apologize for not able to fully show the shape of the mask. :x

Likes:
- nice scent (i like~)
- contains salicylic acid
- reduce pimples redness
- calm pimples
- prevent breakout
- lots of essence? serum? solution?, whatever you called it...
- does not leave a super sticky residue after application
- not greasy
- lighten acne scars/pigmentation
- essence? serum? solution? gets absorbed totally and it get absorbed really quick (quicker than My Beauty Diary mask)

Dislikes:
- for me, it causes irritation(redness, bumpy and itchy patches) on my sensitive cheeks and jawlines :(
- a little expensive

The next day after using the mask, both of my jawlines turn red(refer to picture below) and later on... my cheeks develop patches of redness too! Looks like rashes fyi. Tsk!
Close-up shot of my left jawline
PS: Spot the zit yeah~ please don't mind that lonely zit. LOL.
Perhaps I'm allergic to one of the ingredients in the mask or maybe... it's the side effects of salicylic acid...? :O

There's a higher possibility that the side effects of salicylic acid being the cause of the irritations on my skin because salicylic acid can cause side effects such as redness, peeling, flakiness, stinging, burning etc. I'm thinking this way because the irritations did not develop right after using. It happened overnight.

And fyi..., the redness ONLY LASTS for an hour and would only flare up again right after I cleansed my face. Other than that, my skin just looks perfectly fine without any signs of irritation.

How many days does it takes for the redness to stop developing?
Well, I'm on my second day of observing so I will update you guys later.

By the way, I don't know whether it's an allergic reaction or because of the side effects of salicylic acid. Above details are based on my opinion. :)

On the positive side, despite the irritations, it does helps to reduce the pimples redness, calm and dry up the pimples. Besides that, it also helps to lighten acne scars/pigmentation and prevent future breakouts~ (I saw immediate result after one use. XD) Having said that, I kind of have a love-hate relationship with this mask. Sigh... -.-

For those who have occasionally breakouts, try this mask! They do work however, please be ready for the irritations yo! I don't know if it would affect everyone... maybe yes?, maybe not? I don't know... Anyway, it's just a warning, especially to those with super sensitive skin. XOXO :)

Update on 9th Feb 2013:
How many days does it takes for the redness to stop developing?
For me, it lasts for 3 days. :)

So far, I'm loving the results it gave to my skin. All the nasty whiteheads/small bumps/inflamed zits on my skin are gone! woooohoooooo~ XD
x---x

Update on 6th March 2013:
I used it again yesterday and this time, I didn't get any irritation. By the way, I recommended it to my friend and she did not experience any irritation on her first use. So I concluded that the irritation only happens to some people, depending on the skin condition and it's sensitivity. People with sensitive skin, just be warned... It's best to do a patch test prior to use. :)

Review: Etude House I Need You, Honey! Wash-Off Pack

Etude House I Need You, Honey! Wash-Off Pack (12g per pack)
Description: Facial massage pack formulated with medicinal herbs and honey to soften, nourish and replenish skin.
Directions: After facial cleansing and prior to toner application, massage pack onto facial surface. Avoid contact with eyes and mouth. Leave on for 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water.
Active Ingredients Lists: Honey, Ginseng, Red Ginseng, Cactus and Angelica extracts.

Red Ginseng + Honey Pack: Increase skin elasticity
Ginseng + Honey Pack: Rejuvenate skin
Angelica + Honey Pack: Tighten pores
Cactus + Honey Pack: Remove skin dirts

I only used the Cactus + Honey Pack so I would focus on that pack first~
Consistency and Color(for Cactus + Honey Pack only):
It's silme-y and MORE stickier than the Etude House I Need You, Yogurt! Wash-Off Pack. Honey are truly sticky. -_- But it's not sticky as the real honey you have at home. It's in orange color and contains little exfoliating beads.

Scent (for Cactus + Honey Pack only):
Smells like herby lotion/cream(?) Sorry, I'm bad at describing scent...... Anyway, being a Chinese Asian, I like the scent~ ;D

Likes:
- nourishing
- anti-oxidant~
- skin detox~
- contain exfoliating beads
- does not drip...
- no breakout~!
- amount is generous. can use for 3-4 times per pack
- cooling and soothing sensation (chill it in the fridge before application)
- Honey and Herbs Formula! Honey has a lot of good benefits for the skin.
- cheap and affordable
- I think it's great for "the time of the month" (GIRLS, you know what I talking about ya? LOL)

Dislikes:
- result does not last long. Maybe I should use it for awhile(maybe a few weeks?) in order to see better result... :/
- quite sticky and slime-y
- omg, it's sticky = hard to wash off! Takes longer time to wash off compared to the Yogurt! Wash-Off Pack.

I personally prefer the I Need You, Yogurt! Wash-Off Pack than this because the yogurt pack is easier to wash-off! However, this honey pack contain exfoliating beads which the yogurt pack doesn't have...and honey has a lot of good benefits~(wanna know more about honey? GOOGLE! ) so it's a plus+. ;D

Overall, I may or may not repurchase... Depends...  I really hate spending a long time to wash off a mask.  :x

Review: Etude House I Need You, Yogurt! Wash-Off Pack

Etude House I Need You, Yogurt! Wash-Off Pack (12g per pack)
Description: Facial massage pack formulated with fruit and yogurt to soften, nourish and replenish skin.
Directions: After facial cleansing and prior to toner application, massage pack onto facial surface. Avoid contact with eyes and mouth. Leave on for 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

Strawberry(?) Pack: Skin Brightening
Kiwi Pack: Skin Rejuvenating
Apple Pack: Skin Moisturizing
Apricot Pack: Removing dead skin cells

Active Ingredients: Yogurt, Apple, Raspberry???, Kiwi and Apricot extracts.
I'm quite confused about one of the ingredient... — "Raspberry?" or "Strawberry?" ??? According to the picture, it looks like "Strawberry" to me and the korean words printed on the packaging wrote "딸기" meaning "Strawberry". But in the translated Active Ingredients list, the information given is "Raspberry!?" I thought Raspberry in korean is "나무딸기"? Anyway, I assume there is a translation error? LOL. Well because...the smell of the "딸기" pack smells more like Strawberry. Therefore, I think it's Strawberry instead of Raspberry. Correct me if I'm wrong. :x

Errr...I will stick to "Strawberry" in my post. :)

A more detailed ingredients list:

Before I purchased this Yogurt Pack, my friend actually gave me the Strawberry and Kiwi packs to try... I tried the Kiwi pack first but I'm too excited and forgot to take picture. (-.-) Anyway, I tried the Strawberry pack the previous night and I love it!
Consistency and Color:
It's like uhhh...watery light creamy(?) texture and for the Strawberry Pack, it has a pale pink color whereas for the Kiwi Pack, it has a pale mint green color. I have yet to try the Apple and Apricot Pack so I can't tell their colors.

Scent:
The Strawberry Pack smells totally like Strawberry!(nonsense!, of coz it smells like strawberry if not what? smells like coke? -.- *craps*) [...] Not too strong. It has a very mild scent~ Smells delicious~ *YUM!* As for the Kiwi Pack, I forgot what's the scent is but anyway, it has a really nice fragrance!

Likes:
- easy to apply
- easy to wash off (feels like washing off a lotion cream... -_-)
- cooling and soothing sensation (chill it in the fridge before application)
- nourishing
- softer and smoother skin
- smells delicious!~
- won't drip and not messy
- amount is generous
- suits sensitive skin
- no breakout~!
- YOGURT + FRUITS formula! ;D

Dislikes:
- not much result seen. maybe I should use it for awhile(maybe a few weeks?) in order to see result... :/
- inedible :(  [.............] *kidding* ;P

Each pack can use once or twice or even more, depending on the size of your face and how thick you want to put on your face. I can use one pack for 3-4 times though. :x Once opened, I store the leftover in a container because apparently, the packaging cover can't seal back once ripped. I'm afraid it will spill in the fridge(my mom would kill me!) therefore, I chose to store it in a container. :x

FYI, the korean salesgirl told me this Yogurt Pack is for sensitive skin and the main purpose of this mask pack is Moisturizing and the Honey Pack is for errr... ps, I forgot. (._.") Is it for Moisturizing + Skin detoxification? Okay, I really don't know... Anyway, I got both Yogurt and Honey Pack~ Probably I would try the Honey Pack next week. Wheeeeees, I'm so excited!~ :D

Although it says to leave it on for 10-15 minutes, I leave it on for 30-45minutes and it does not dry up nor irritate my skin and at the same time, it helps to brighten, smooth and clear my skin. Before I got the Etude House AC Clinic Pink Powder Spot, I use this clay mask as an overnight spot treatment and it helps reduce the size of zits the following day. Review: My Beauty Diary Mask & Mini Haul

Mood:

I've recently added 'facial sheet mask' into my skincare routine and I love it so muchhhh!~ So hearing that Strawberry and Yogurt are great for acne-prone skin, I bought a box of MBD Strawberry Yogurt Mask(10 pieces) a few weeks ago to try it out.
Description: Whitens and refines skin and control excessive sebum secretion. Natural strawberry extract contains AHA, minerals and enzyme to leave skin clean, fair and fresh. Yogurt extract balances sebum secretion and tightens pores. Arbutin leaves skin luminous. It also helps enhance skin's moisture level.

Suitable for: normal and combination skin. (I think it suits oily skin too!)

Country of Origin: Taiwan

Pros:
- mask is extremely moist; well absorbed & soaked with essence
- smells great
- moisturizes
- smooth skin
- reduces redness
- bring white heads to surface. Few days later, the white heads will drop out on their own~
- reduces the size and swelling of my zits
- helps control shine and oiliness
- not sticky

Cons:
- mask fits pretty much perfectly on my face but only the part above my lips was too big
- temporary brightening effect...
** Beware of fake MBD mask! Here's a site that tells you more on how to spot and differentiate fake and real MBD mask: click

I got this mask hoping that it would help deal with my sudden breakouts and I personally thinks it does! I have moderate acnes(whiteheads, blackheads, papules and pustules). Currently, I left with lot of blackheads on my nose, a few whiteheads, 1-2 papules on my face. and and and..., lots of hyper-pigmentation spots/scars on my cheeks! P.S.: My skin isn't perfect... (ㅠ_ㅠ)

I only have used the mask twice and I personally thinks it works great to help my skin. It reduces the swelling and clears up some of the stubborn zits. It also lighten the redness. My face felt sticky after I removed the mask, but after my skin completely absorb the essence, the stickiness was gone. Highly Recommended! Well, it has become my holy grail mask! (^ー^)

Rating:  (4/5)

I also bought other MBD masks like Black Pearl, Pearl Powder, Bulgarian White Rose, Apple Polyphenol, Bird Nest, Japanese Cherry Blossom, Mixed Berry and Q10 Rejuvenating.
Can't wait to try the Black Pearl, Pearl Powder, Bulgarian White Rose and Apple Polyphenol mask~ Ermmm, the rest of the masks belong to my mom~ She gained an interest in MBD mask after she saw the result it gave to my skin. She thought maybe she should get some for herself too so I suggested to help her to buy the masks. Will post up the review after using the other MBD masks.

By the way, I really wanna get the Aloe Sheet Mask however, it's out of stock. I shall wait for the restock~ ( ̄3 ̄)
